Job Purpose
The Accountant will be primarily responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of the finance department including data entry, reporting, compliance, tax, regulatory requirements, maintaining financial controls, assisting in developing policies and procedures which conform to all applicable statutory requirements and best industry practice. Be responsible for handling budget preparations, registering all daily financial movements into the company’s accounting system and analyzing financial data.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Preparing the budget in accordance and coordination with the various departments.

Budget reporting to the Country Director and group
-
Preparing financial statements of the business at the end of each financial cycle or the intervals decided by the authorities of the organization

Develop and manage the company’s fixed assets register and capital expenditure reports.

Prepare monthly management accounts and related reports such as balance sheet schedules and any other reports which are required by management.

Handle any statutory and internal audits and be involved in closure of any matters raised in audit reports (including preparation of any reports or schedules required by management)

Analyse revenues, commissions and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis

Prepare monthly account reconciliations Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules

Make sure that the business complies with the regular and periodic tax payments, reporting information and fulfilling any other requirements of ZRA

Maintaining the ledger of the Company
-
Oversee inventory controls and periodic stock counts and initiating the respective stock adjustments.

Prepare IFRS 16 workings in line with lease agreements including capitalization of any renewals and additions.

Ensure correct accounting principles are applied to transactions and assist in developing accounting policies and procedures.

Liaising with respective third-party stakeholders to resolve queries, complaints and relationship management.

Maintaining financial procedures consistent with Treasury and other Areas of the company

Assisting line managers in establishing a culture of high performance, professionalism and continuous improvement that encourages individuals and teams to identify opportunities and solutions to improve service delivery

Contributing to providing effective leadership to foster initiative, promote and build effective teams, achieve outcomes and meet deadline

Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
-
Full or Final Level of CA Zambia, CIMA /ACCA
or
-
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
-
Must have a minimum of 5+ years relevant experience in Accounting/Finance
-
A minimum of
2-3 Accounting working experience in the automobile industry will be a plus
-
Must be well vested in Pastel and other accounting packages
-
Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office especially Microsoft Excel
-
Excellent knowledge of the Zambian Accounting Laws and Regulations
-
Working knowledge of SAP B1
will be an added advantage
-
