Job Title: Accountant
E-MARK is currently seeking a talented and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team. The Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing the daily accounting operations of the company. This includes maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and providing accurate financial information to management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting:
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Conduct financial analysis and present findings to management.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
2. Tax Compliance:
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Calculate and remit PAYE (Pay As You Earn) taxes.
• Handle NHIMA (National Health Insurance Management Authority) and NAPSA (National Pension Scheme Authority) contributions and submissions.
• Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and liaise with tax authorities as needed.
3. General Ledger Management:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
• Perform reconciliations of bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts. Ensure the accuracy of journal entries and other accounting documents.
4. Accounts Payable and Receivable:
• Process and monitor payments and expenditures.
• Follow up on outstanding invoices and manage collections.
5. Audit and Compliance:
• Assist with internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
• Prepare audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors.
Other Responsibilities:
• Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
• Stay updated on industry trends and changes in financial regulations.
Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as ZICA (Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, etc.).
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
