Mutinondo Luchenene Power Company Limited
is a registered Zambian limited company, which has the rights to develop the Mutinondo and Luchenene hydropower projects in Zambia and have partnered with Africa Renewable Energy Holdings II Sarl (“AREH II”) to advance the development of the Projects.
Job Description
The Accountant is responsible for general accounting of the company and or any of its subsidiaries as assigned by the Finance Manager or Managing Director. The Accountant will ensure compliance with the company financial policies and procedure manual and the enforcement of the company internal control systems and ensuring the integrity of accounting information when recording, verifying and posting transactions. In addition, the incumbent will be accountable for monitoring project expenses in relation to project budgets.
Responsibilities

Finance Manual:
Ensure compliance with the company finance policy and procedures manual and the internal control systems of the company.

Project Accounting:
Preparation of project management accounts and reports, ensuring internal control systems are complied with, maintain project related documents and perform any project management responsibilities as agreed with Project Director.

Cash Flow Forecast:
Prepare cash flow forecasts as required by management

Budgeting:
Participate in the preparation of company budget

Monthly Reports:
Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting pack as per management guidelines

External Audit:
Prepare the necessary reports and documents for annual financial audit and liaise with the company external auditors in the audit process.

Tax & Other Regulations:
Ensure the company complies to the tax and other regulations

Returns:
Prepare tax and other regulatory returns including VAT, PAYE, NSSF, Income Tax and any other statutory return

Bank:
Review of company bank accounts including daily bank movement review and monthly bank reconciliation and other bank facilities reports

Balance Sheet:
Preparation of balance sheet accounts schedules and reconciliation (including ageing) monthly.

General Ledger:
Maintain the company General Ledger and ensure that all transactions are correctly posted and have the necessary supporting documentation. Ensure that all documents are posted in the correct nominal account, subsidiary accounts and cost centers, where applicable.

Posting:
Preparation and posting of approved General Journal Entries and all other documents of original entry.

Trade Receivables:
Management of trade receivables including raising and posting of invoices, preparation and sending of customer statements, customer dispute resolution, debt collection, preparation and review of debtors aged listing and bad debt provision schedules.

Accounts Payables
management including; processing of supplier purchase orders, supplier invoices, payment requisitions, posting of payments and allocation of the same to invoices, supplier dispute resolution and preparation of payable reports including aged analysis reports.

Stakeholder Reports:
Preparation of specific stakeholder reports (including lenders) under the guidance of the Finance Manager

Fixed Assets Register:
Maintain the company Fixed Assets Register and ensure it is updated with the additions, disposals, depreciation, revaluation on a monthly basis. Prepare the PPE schedule monthly.

Inventory:
Manage the company inventory and ensure that it is correctly valued, safeguarded from any fraud and conduct quarterly and annual stock take.

Payroll:
Prepare the company payroll and maintain the necessary records

Confidentiality:
Secure the company’s financial information and documents and keep the same confidential

Any other roles and responsibility as assigned by the Finance Manager, Operations Director or Managing Director
Education and Experience

University Degree in Accounting CPA or ACCA qualifications (Advanced Sections or Finalist) More than 3 years’ experience in a busy commercial environment Experience with preparation of management accounts and financial reports. Experience and proficiency in the use of accounting software, Sage will be an added advantage.
