Job description:
Purpose
The Accounting and Data Information Metallurgist is responsible for managing metallurgical accounting processes, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of gold production, and maintaining data integrity within the processing plant. This role requires a strong understanding of metallurgical operations, data analysis, and reporting systems to support decision-making and optimize plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
Metallurgical Accounting

Develop and maintain accurate metallurgical accounting systems to track ore input, gold recovery, and production outputs.

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports, highlighting key metrics such as recovery rates, losses, and inventory balances.

Reconcile gold balances across various stages of the plant and liaise with finance and operations teams for accurate reporting.

Ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements for production reporting and metallurgical accounting practices.
Data Management and Analysis

Collect, validate, and analyze plant performance data, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

Create and maintain dashboards to provide real-time insights into plant performance and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement by analyzing production and operational data.

Develop and maintain metallurgical databases, ensuring data security and accessibility.
Process Optimization Support

Work closely with the metallurgical and operational teams to provide data-driven insights for process optimization.

Conduct material balance calculations to assess plant efficiency and highlight areas for improvement.

Support test work initiatives by analyzing data and preparing reports to guide process changes

Compliance and Audit

Ensure all metallurgical accounting and reporting activities adhere to internal audit and external regulatory standards.

Participate in internal and external audits by providing accurate data and supporting documentation.

Maintain records of all metallurgical and production data to support historical reviews and compliance checks
.
Reporting and Communication

Communicate data trends, performance insights, and recommendations to management and key stakeholders.

Prepare technical reports summarizing plant performance, including recovery rates, process efficiency, and production data.

Liaise with the finance department to ensure alignment between metallurgical and financial data.
Qualifications

Grade 12 School Certificate
-
Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

A member of Engineering Institution of Zambia
Experience
-
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in metallurgical accounting or data analysis within a gold processing environment.

Strong knowledge of gold extraction processes, including comminution, flotation, gravity separation, leaching, and cyanidation.

Proficiency in data management and analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or metallurgical accounting software.

Familiarity with metallurgical production reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
