Accounts Assistant at Electoral Commission of Zambia

Job Description

The Electoral Commission of Zambia seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced Zambian citizen to fill the vacant position of an Accounts Assistant.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To carry out routine accounting operations relating to receipts and payments.

REPORTING ACCOUNTABILITY

The Accounts Assistant will report to the Assistant Accountant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Receipts all cash and cheques received by the Commission using appropriate Commission receipts.
2. Prepares on a weekly basis, a schedule showing all cash received and banked during that week.
3. Assists in entering commitments and payments into the FMS/IFMIS for further processing.
4. Records all payments into the SAP/IFMIS Accounting System.
5. Files all receipts and deposit slips after a receipt is processed and provide copies to the relevant recipients.
6. Keeps custody of all approved payment vouchers and release checks to relevant recipients recording all relevant details.
7. Facilitates all banking services for the Commission on a daily basis.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

1. Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
2. Diploma in ACCA, CIMA or ZICA Licentiate
3. Not less than two (02) years post qualifying relevant experience.
4. Must be a registered member with a professional body.
