Job description:

Overall Job Purpose

Perform day-to-day Mechanical Breakdowns, Planned Maintenance tasks, assignments and services following world class standard across the Trucks Fleet at Sentinel Mine. Maximize production by continuous improvement, optimal maintenance practices and a reliability focused approach.

Specific Job Responsibility

• To ensure the Trucks availability and reliability are adhered to as per world class standards.
• To oversee mechanical maintenance of all installed mechanical equipment in the pit & Mobile Maintenance Workshop.
• This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
• Ensure that good work ethics is sustained by effectively managing discipline with reference to absenteeism, lateness, misconduct, etc. within the section.
• Understand the daily Trucks performance, review downtimes and highlight performance records discrepancies to ensure the handovers are correct.
• Maintain all their associated equipment so that they are running at peak performance, making diligent attention to small details a high priority so as to keep the Machines running at their optimal performance levels and keeping downtimes to the minimum.
• Ensure that daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance schedules are adhered to
• Work with the Shift Supervisor’s, OEM’s, Coordinators, Reliability Engineers and superintendents in the planning and execution of the planned equipment rehabilitation.
• Conduct failure analysis to significant breakdowns to eliminate and to avoid repetition of the same in the future for continuous optimization of company assets.
• Troubleshooting skills, Component change out e.g. Power Modules, Transmissions, Suspensions, Pump Module and Hoist/Steering cylinders

Experience required to perform in this job

• A minimum of an appropriate craft certification and experience with heavy mining equipment including Trucks.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a maintenance role.
• Experience in mining or other heavy industry.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead and execute work without supervision.
• Understanding of fundamental lubrication concepts and application.
• Strong fundamental understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and circulating systems.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate with 5 O-Levels
• Craft Certificate from recognized institution
• A member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
• Valid Silicosis certificate
• Valid Driver’s license
• All certificates must be certified by ZAQA
