Agronomy Technician
The position is responsible for the implementation of Minimum Agriculture Standards (MAS) & Minimum Forestry Standards (MFS) guidelines to JTI’s Flue Cured Virginia (FCV) sponsored tobacco farmers and ensure maximized production and delivery of quality tobacco. The Agronomy Technician further ensures that all farmer registration, distribution of inputs, delivery of tobacco and loan recoveries are recorded and reported as per policy and process. The position also ensures the desired curing barn initiative program and agroforestry initiatives are implemented as per plan. The Agronomy Technician ensures they conduct thorough regular farmer visitation program ensuring all growers are visited as recommended in MAS and provide quality extension and technical services to all JTI contracted growers.
Position:
-
Establish and manage contracted grower base within a functional area and implement predefined programs to monitor and control all aspects of the growing operations to cover production from seed to sale of product at the sales floors.

Facilitate delivery to growers, conduct input distribution, monitor and reconcile all grower input requirements including correct and timely application / usage, ensuring 100% accountability of all input distribution is required including facilitating of the movement of baled tobacco from farm to sales floors.

Provide technical extension services and practical training to all growers at all times during the crop cycle.

Implement the key strategic initiative of curing barn program within the LPT’s contracted grower base ensuring delivery of agreed targeted numbers, seeing to it that implementation is done in line with construction guidelines provided and as per plan.

Participate in accurate and timely data collection as required for Bill of Inputs (BOI), crop throw analysis and any other efficiency / crop / quality improvement initiatives that are designed to benefit the JTI contracted growers.
Requirements
:

Diploma in Agriculture
-
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as in the tobacco industry.

Fluent in English (spoken and written).

Strong business ethics and communication skills.

Must have 2 years‘ motorcycle riding experience with a valid motorcycle license for 2 years must be attached to your application
