Job description:
Purpose
To supervise the mine crews, to ensure safety is managed, overall development performance is monitored and efficiency of mine workers engaged in surface mining operations
Key Responsibilities

The incombent will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

Coordinate all construction projects within both pits and ensure they are progressing accordingly and following appropriate designs and standards.

Facilitate the construction of mine haul roads, ramps, storm water management, including the installation of culverts and ensure only suitable material is used for all construction projects.

Ensure all construction works are done safely, JRA’s are conducted accordingly and all SOP’s followed.

Ensure machines are in good working condition and checklists are done daily.

Monitor compliance of all personnel under the Pit Construction Team and liaise with the training department to ensure compliance is up to date.

Ensure all operator’s permits are valid.

Facilitate the transportation of all construction personnel to and from the work areas.

Ensure the safety of all personnel during work hours including during blasting time.

Read, analyse and understand construction design drafts and blueprints and ensure they are followed by all construction personnel.

Give directives to the PIC and ensure he/she is working according to plan.

Coordinate employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures or assign employee training to experienced workers.
Qualifications

Grade 12 Certificate
-
Certificate \ Diploma in Civil/Mining Engineering from a recognized institution

Drivers Licence
Experience
-
3 years’ relevant experience in mining is required, (preferably 1 year’s supervisory experience)

Comfortable working with machines, and mechanically adept

Knowledge of mining rules and regulations

Proven track record of supervising and managing people
