Position reports to

Purpose
To safely execute maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on Smelter Mobile equipment according to the prescribed standards while ensuring the safety of self and others.
Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

Perform auto electrical work on vehicles and heavy equipment machinery

Design and build auto electrical systems required to support operational functions.

Prepare wiring diagrams and specifications for low voltage electrical equipment applications

Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.

Assist to determine critical spare parts in order to generate strategic critical list and reasonable stock level for spare parts.

Help design, wire or re-wire electrical circuits to improve the reliability of the electrical equipment.

Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.

Ensure that maintenance objectives are effectively communicated to optimize machine availability.

Ensure that stock levels of electrical equipment are maintained in the warehouse and report all defective or substandard equipment to your direct Supervisor.

Diagnose and repair electrical faults in various vehicles and machinery

Maintain work area/s in a satisfactory condition and ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
Qualifications
-
Minimum of a Grade Twelve Certificate (Grade 12)
-
Craft Certificate or better in Auto Electrical Repairs / Equivalent from recognized institution

Member of EIZ
Experience
-
A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience as a qualified Auto Electrician
-
Advanced knowledge of modern vehicular electrical systems.

Ability to work in confined spaces.
-
Complex problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to operate electrical diagnostic equipment.
-
Good communication skills.
-
Ability to distinguish subtle colour variations.
-
Experience in Heavy Equipment such as Dozers, Front end Loaders, Kress Machines, Forklifts etc is an added advantage
