Zambia Sugar Plc. is a subsidiary of ABF Group and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia.  Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar, and other sugar downstream products.

The company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions in the Estate Support Services Department:

1.    ARTISAN REFRIGERATION X 1 – PERMANENT

This position will be reporting to the Electrical Forman – Low Voltage. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Key Responsibilities

To Install, assemble and commission split units, ducted systems, chillers and water-cooled units.

Connect refrigerant lines and controls according to manufacturer’s specifications and safety codes.

Test systems after installation verifying correct performance.

Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning filters, coils, condensers, fans and ducts following standard schedules.

Execute works orders received from the planning section.

Work in conformity with the acceptable refrigeration standards.

Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic control faults in AC systems.

Respond to emergency breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime.

To ensure all work complies with ZEMA refrigerant handling regulations and relevant local codes.

Interact professionally with clients to explain faults, repairs and preventive maintenance plans.

To train clients/end users on correct operation of installed systems.

Ensure all works done are recorded in CMMS.

To Ensure installations in homes, factory, offices and commercial buildings are consistently maintained to highest standards.

Promote and adhere to ABF’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti Bribery and Corruption (ABC).

Minimum Requirements

Full Grade 12 School Certificate

Diploma or Advanced Technician Certificate in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning

Preferably 5+ years’ experience in industrial air-conditioning and refrigeration works

ZEMA refrigerant handling certificate

Membership with Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)

Suitably qualified applicants must provide certificates verified by Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).

Competencies and Personal Attributes

Adept at air-conditioning advanced electronic control and monitoring systems

Must be a self-starter able to execute and deliver with minimum supervision

Good communication skills

Good Leadership skills
