ADVERT – ASSISTANT CHEF

We are seeking a talented and passionate Assistant Chef to join the dynamic culinary team at our prestigious Roadside Hotels in Kapiri, Zambia.

JOB PURPOSE:

With direct reporting line to the Lead Chef, the Assistant Chef will be assisting the Lead Chef in food preparation, kitchen operations, and staff supervision to ensure efficient and high quality food service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Food preparations

Assist in preparing and cooking dishes according to recipes and standards.
Kitchen Operations

Maintain kitchen cleanliness, organization, and workflow.
Staff supervision

Assist in supervising and training kitchen junior staff.
Quality Control

Ensure food quality, presentation, and consistency.
Menu support

Assist with menu planning, inventory management, and food cost control.
Teamwork

Collaborate with other kitchen staff to meet service demands and deadlines.
Food Safety

Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards and regulations.
Equipment Maintenance

Assist in maintaining and cleaning kitchen equipment and utensils.
Flexibility

Work flexibility, including evening, weekends, and holidays, as required.

Culinary skills

Proficiency in cooking techniques, food preparations, and presentation
Teamwork

Ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff
Time management

Effective management of time to meet service demands.
Attention to detail

Ensuring high-quality food presentation and consistency.

Knowledge and adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
Minimum of Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality Management or related field from a recognized institution.
Should be a member of a tourism and hospitality professional body.
2 -3 years work experience in a similar role in a reputable institution.
