Occupational Health and Safety Institute (OHSI) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Labour and Social Security established under the Occupational Health and Safety Act No. 36 of 2010, has its main Offices situated in Kitwe with two branch offices in Solwezi and Lusaka, is looking for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following positions;
ASSISTANT INTERNAL AUDITOR [1 POSITION]
JOB OBJECTIVE
To assist in conducting independent and objective assessments of the effectiveness of the internal control environment, risk management practices, and compliance with relevant regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in the planning and execution of internal audits related to occupational health and safety standards.

Conduct risk assessments to identify key areas for audit focus

Participate in fieldwork, evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls.

Prepare clear and concise audit work papers documenting audit procedures, findings, and recommendations.

Collaborate with the internal audit team to compile comprehensive audit reports.

Evaluate compliance with applicable OHS regulations and internal policies.

Identify opportunities for process improvements in the OHS management systems

Collaborate with departments/sections to implement best practices for safety and compliance.

Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and track corrective actions.

Conduct follow-up audits to ensure sustained compliance and improvements

Provide periodic updates to management on the status of pending audit queries
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
-
Must be a member of ZICA and have pre-job experience of not less than three (3) years
-
Professional certification such as ACCA II, ZICA Advanced Diploma, CIMA III or equivalent is preferred
-
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and standards

Understanding of internal audit principles, practices, and methodologies

Proficient in using audit tools and software
-
Demonstrated ethical conduct and integrity in handling sensitive information

Proficient in using audit tools and software

Analytical, Team Player, Innovative and excellent written and verbal communication skills
