The Opportunity

As a member of the Core Business Services (CBS), you have an opportunity to work across teams that extend knowledge, resources, and tools to the wider firm helping them deliver exceptional service to our clients, gain in the marketplace and aid the firm’s growth and profitability.

The Assistant Manager – Talent acts as the first point of contact for employees and leaders in select practices across the various EY Zambia service lines. The incumbent will possess deep understanding of the business needs and understand how to translate these needs into relevant talent initiatives and work to ensure successful implementation of key, high-touch people processes and initiatives, aligned with the business strategies.

Your Key Responsibilities

As Assistant Manager – Talent, you will be responsible for providing consultative support to various business units within the country on matters relating to the end-to-end employee lifecycle, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of HR services. You will be involved in discussions with the business to develop the talent agenda based on the business needs and drivers. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Help execute major talent processes including compensation planning, performance management, talent development, onboarding / integration, workforce planning and employee engagement strategies across a geography or practice area
  • Serves as the first point of contact on employee relations issues; manages/handles issues as appropriate (communicating with Talent Leaders and local leadership); escalates issues, as needed
  • Coordinates with Learning & Development teams on program implementation
  • Coordinates with Talent Acquisition team to ensure the hiring of candidates to support the firm’s strategic growth agenda
  • Coordinates with Talent Shared Services staff to ensure proper handling of administrative issues and needs.
  • Oversee HR procedures ensuring seamless operations with limited supervision.
  • Uphold superior standards in the execution of HR operations functions.
  • Contribute to the automation of simple HR processes to increase departmental efficiency.
  • Participate in local events or Service Line/Sub-Service Line wide initiatives.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources other relevant qualification. The qualification must be ZAQA verified.
  • Must be a registered and licenced member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resources management
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in HR
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience in managing HR processes and resolving employee grievances.
