Position reports to :                     Shift Controller

Purpose

The purpose of the Assistant Field operator is to assist the Field Operator operate the plant in a safe manner as per standard operating procedure to ensure smooth and trouble free operation.

Key Responsibilities

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulation pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, human resource, finance and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function:

• Monitoring plant operations to ensure conformity to the set operational controls and procedures
• Ensure effective communication with the Field Operators-SAP and GCP
• Taking routine plant rounds to identify defective equipment
• Reporting all abnormal and defective equipment
• Practice good housekeeping around Gas cleaning and Sulphuric acid Plants areas
• Follow Safety practices of doing jobs with concerns for Environment and Quality.
• Completion of the routine plant activities: Strong Acid sampling,Weak Acid Sampling,Raw Water sampling,Reporting defective equipment,Cleaning strong acid area,Draining the heat exchangers,Pressure drop taking,Hand tools stock taking
• Completion of the plant calendar activity for the day/shift.
• Participating in training activities
• Log all field parameters as determined by the Senior Metallurgist
• Maintaining plant records as per procedure and management systems requirement.
• Reports to Shift Controller.

ESSENTIAL / Qualifications

Grade 12 Certificate

Experience

Experience in a metallurgical / Sulphur burning acid plant operation is an added advantage.
