About the role

Restless Development Zambia therefore seeks to recruit for the project, a dynamic, inspired and innovative young Zambian to fill the role of Assistant Programme Coordinator Gender. The Assistant Programme Coordinator Gender will lead the implementation of Restless Development project activities in Eastern Province and Central Province across 8 districts. The role supports gender-transformative community mobilisation, facilitates local capacity strengthening, and ensures effective delivery of project outputs related to shared household responsibilities and young women’s inclusion in the soybean value chain.

The postholder will directly oversee the project and all its key components. The Assistant Programme Coordinator Gender will be based in Eastern Province with an extended oversight to Central Province and will be the direct facilitator of our activities on the project to support direct programme implementation in targeted Districts and communities. This position is dependent on funding and the successful candidate will be informed once funding is secured.

Desired and Essential skills :

Essential

• Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in youth-led rural development, gender equality, or livelihoods programming.
• Experience leading community-based workshops, participatory tools, or behaviour change interventions.
• Proven ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder dialogues and policy advocacy platforms.
• Knowledge of the soybean value chain, agricultural systems, or rural market dynamics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic MEL tools (e.g., Kobo Toolbox).
• Strong written and verbal communication in English and at least one local language (Bemba or Nyanja).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
• Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team
• Strong project management skills and experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Belief in the values of Restless Development and ability to uphold them personally
• A strong personal commitment to the values. Code of conduct and methods of  Restless Development.

Desirable

• Experience coordinating donor-funded projects will be an added advantage.
• Familiarity with social and behaviour change communication campaigns or media partnerships.
• Understanding of climate-smart agriculture and disability inclusion.
• Proficiency in digital data collection or agriculture technologies.
• Working knowledge of donor-funded project operations.
• Multilingual – fluency in Bemba, Nyanja, or other local languages.
• Strong report writing and facilitation skills.
• Relevant experience in supporting safeguarding in a similar position ideally in an International Development setting
• Understanding of risk and how to respond and mitigate it in local and international settings.
• Understanding of how to manage the safety of people working in diverse and often rural communities
• Experience of volunteer management
• Proven track record of working collaboratively with different teams on complex matters.
