ASSISTANT TRANSPORT OFFICER:

Employment Type : Contract

Location : Lusaka

Reporting to : Transport Officer

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in overseeing the maintenance, repair, and inspection of company vehicles.
  • Schedule service, repair bookings with service providers, and coordinate vehicle usage for business needs.
  • Plan and optimize transportation routes to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Work closely with other departments to coordinate transportation schedules.
  • Ensure all transportation activities comply with relevant regulations i.e. Safety, environmental, and legal requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining records of driver logs, vehicle inspections, and other necessary documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of all transportation activities for auditing and reporting purposes.
  • Transport members of staff and Company assets to various destinations, when required.
  • Report and prepare reports for road traffic accidents and thefts.
  • Perform any other official duties that may be assigned by the supervisors.
  • Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent
  • Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
  • Minimum Diploma in Logistics and Transport, or Transport Management. Mechanical background
  • Proven experience in transportation or logistics management.
  • Strong knowledge of transport regulations, safety standards, and compliance
  • Paid up Member of the Zambia Institute of Logistics and Transport Valid driver’s license

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar position.

  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and sound judgment in decision-making.

  • Strong work ethics, including accuracy and efficiency.
