Job Purpose
The Auto Mechanic will take of diagnose and troubleshoot problems with engines and transmissions. Advise clients about the performance and history of their vehicles, inspect mechanical and electronic components, diagnose issues, and discuss possible resolutions with clients. Communicate with Head of Section and management regarding automotive issues.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Working with the manager and other mechanics to diagnose and repair the mechanical and electrical components of vehicles
-
Diagnose and make cost-effective repairs on vehicles
-
Provide timely maintenance reports on vehicles
-
Maintain vehicles by ordering parts, properly maintaining equipment, and conducting regular inspections
-
Be responsible for securing, storing, and organizing parts
-
Stock parts and supplies as needed
-
Listening to clients to learn more about vehicle history, potential problems, and the services they would like to receive.

Performing test drivers, inspections, and other diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify where problems exists and determine which parts need to be repaired or replaced.

Work with sales department to repair damaged automobiles

Maintain proper tools and equipment
-
Work with Sales to prepare and submit job quotes and estimates
-
Completing preventative maintenance on vehicles, such as performing oil changes, flushing and replacing fluids, and replacing brakes.

Repairing damage to the body of the vehicle and washing and painting the vehicle’s exterior.

Generating timelines and estimates for repairs and discussing options with clients.

Inspecting internal systems and controls to ensure the vehicle is operating properly and in compliance with state regulations

Maintaining accurate records relating to clients, their vehicles, parts, and service history.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
-
Full Grade 12 Certificate
-
Diploma in Motor Vehicle Technician/Automotive Mechanics from a recognized technical Institute/College
-
Must have a
minimum of 3+ practical work years experience as an Auto Mechanic
-
Proven knowledge of cars, trucks, vans, and off-road vehicles
-
Must have vast knowledge of automotive systems and their effect on vehicle operation
-
Certification as a Mechanical Technician will be a plus
-
Proven ability to diagnose and repair vehicles and follow safety instructions and directions.
-
Must be reliable and honest with a clean employment record
-
Knowledge of vehicle inspection and repair practices
-
Must also be ready to work either in Kafue or Mazabuka
-
Must be a member of EIZ
