Job Description:
You will be responsible for the safe transportation, charging, and detonation of explosives within the permitted mining area.
Reporting to: Blasting Supervisor
Key Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
* Ensure safe transportation of explosives from the magazine to the designated blasting blocks.
* Safely load explosives into blast holes in compliance with explosives regulations and site standard operating procedures.
* Execute planned blasting activities safely according to relevant regulations and site SOPs.
* Report misfires and handle them in accordance with applicable regulations and site procedures.
* Report all incidents/accidents to the supervisor and record them using the designated templates.
* Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
* Frequent walking is required.
* Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
* Occasionally work in dusty environments or where airborne particles or toxic chemicals may be present.
* The work environment noise level is usually loud.
Experience and Qualifications:
* Must be a Zambian national with a valid underground blasting license issued by the Mine Safety Department (MSD).
* Must hold a valid Silicosis Health Certificate.
* Must be literate.
* Minimum of 3 years’ underground mining blasting experience.
* Knowledge of different initiation sequences is essential.
* Must have experience in electronic blasting operations.
* Holders of a valid manual transmission Class B driver’s license will have an added advantage.
* Quick to learn and adaptable.
* Must be able to work shifts and demonstrate strong team spirit.
