Job Description
The Boiler Operator will monitor boiler systems, perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities

Monitoring steam boilers and safety devices

Adjusting boiler controls
-
Performing routine maintenance of Boilers
-
Following correct boiler operation procedures/established procedures
-
Maintaining boiler plant equipment/maintaining high-pressure boilers
-
Reading pressure gauges
-
Ensuring boilers are operating efficiently
-
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of mechanical equipment and mechanical maintenance
-
Adjusting gas controls on natural gas systems
-
Replacing worn or damaged boiler system and piping system components, such as defective valves
-
Using safety equipment/following safety procedures
-
Fault-finding in electrical systems, mechanical systems, and heating systems
-
Connecting boiler feed water
-
Overseeing boiler plant operations and boiler rooms
-
Working in physically demanding environments
-
Troubleshoot problems and make necessary repairs
-
Performing regular inspections of ash arresters
-
Maintaining accurate records
-
Spotting potential issues
-
Performing any other work-related duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements and skills
-
Grade 12 Certificate
-
A Certificate in Boiler Operation is a requirement
-
2 years and above work experience in the meat processing industry
-
Should be able to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and drawings
-
Proficiency with computers and software programs used for monitoring and controlling the plant boiler.
