Job Description
The Zambia Institute of Architects (ZIA) is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Building Inspector – Head of Inspectorate Department.
Key Responsibilities

Conducting scheduled and unscheduled site inspections of Infrastructure Projects and generate detailed reports for review by the Disciplinary Committee.

Establishing Inspection and Operational Procedures;

Prepare appropriate summons for individuals and organisations that may be required to appear before the Disciplinary Committee

Collaborating with partners and stakeholders in the Built Environment to conduct joint inspections
-
Oversee and manage the Inspectorate Department, ensuring compliance with national building standards and statutory regulations.

Lead pre-Disciplinary Committee investigations into alleged breaches of building laws, professional misconduct, or non-compliance.

Advise ZIA on enforcement of the Architects’ Act CAP 442, Health and Safety Act, Lands Act, Local Government Act, and the Urban and Regional Planning Act (2015).

Collaborate with government agencies, local authorities, and stakeholders to uphold building codes and urban planning policies.

Utilize Microsoft Word/Excel to compile inspection reports, track violations, and maintain departmental records.
Qualification and experience
-
Grade 12 school certificate
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or any Construction related field

Membership with a Professional Body
-
Minimum of 5 years work experience in the Construction Industry

Driver’s Licence Minimum Class B
-
Prior experience as a Building Inspector in a Local Authority will be an added advantage.
