Business Development Manager

The main objective of this role is to help promote the BDO Zambia brand by identifying new business opportunities through the acquisition of new clientele as well as maintaining existing clientele by improving on existing products and services.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for providing excellent customer service, generating up-to-date growth and business development strategies, maintaining social media coverage, building positive business relationships and working with staff to ensure that any agreements/ commitments are delivered within appropriate timeframes.

  • Identify new opportunities and innovations and engage with directors in establishing marketing strategies to build the BDO brand.
  • Understand and identify relevant “hot topics” and “latest trends” and translate these into new business opportunities relevant to BDO’s core objectives.
  • The ability to travel to meet clients, attend conferences, events, conduct business development presentations, and research new markets as needed.
  • Preparing different types of business proposals and reports for both new and existing clientele as and when required.
  • Responsible for designing and distributing any marketing materials.
  • Managing and maintaining an active and engaging social media presence on all BDO Zambia social media accounts.
  • Spearhead all corporate social responsibility activities.
  • Generate and spearhead marketing plans, advertising, direct marketing and campaigns for the firm.
  • Manage and monitor the sales pipeline, ensuring a strong pipeline of activity and momentum.
  • Implement a key account management programme based on the firm’s growth ambitions.
  • Support the sectors to drive and develop the firm’s key account management and targeting programmes, taking responsibility for updating key account and pursuit plans.
  • Be proactive in bringing market trends and ideas to the business to help open doors to new work and qualify in new leads where opportunities are identified.
  • Develop a growth strategy and plan focused on financial gain and customer satisfaction.
  • Report on oppositions activity.
  • Identify new ways of cross selling to existing clients and reaching existing markets.

Qualifications & Selection Criteria

  • Degree in Marketing or any Business-Related Qualification
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in a marketing role
  • 2 -3 years in a senior managerial role
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as part of a team and to work autonomously with limited supervision;
  • Demonstrate improved knowledge of market, competition and customer requirements;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
