JOB DUTIES

Overview of role The Company Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, logistics, and overall management of the staff camp in Zambia to ensure a safe, organized, and enjoyable experience for all staff and guests. This role includes managing personnel, coordinating activities, maintaining facilities, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational guidelines.
Reporting responsibility The Site Administrator will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer (“COO”).
Countries of responsibility Zambia
Location of role Mwense, Zambia
Travel Requirements The role will require travel to any locations deemed necessary, including trips to Mansa and Lusaka, Zambia.
Remuneration The remuneration will be market related for the position and in line with GED Africa’s internal policies.
Job Objectives and responsibilities OBJECTIVES AND GOALS
a) Foster a positive camp environment.
b) Ensure operational excellence at the camp.
c) Promote safety and compliance at the camp.
d) Lead and develop staff.
e) Identify and report any challenges – and assist the COO in remedying these.

RESPONSIBILITIES
a) Staff Management:
· Ensure that the data entered is accurate, complete, and properly classified.
b) Accounts Payable:
· Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate camp staff.
· Prepare and implement staff schedules/timetables.
· Foster a positive and productive team environment.
b) Operations and Logistics:
· Plan and oversee daily schedules, activities, and events.
· Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and external partners.
· Inventory management including overseeing the procurement, storage, and inventory of food and beverage supplies and to ensure proper stock levels are maintained while minimizing waste.
· Manage the food and beverage budget to optimize resources while maintaining high-quality service, and track expenses and adjust purchasing to stay within financial constraints.
· Prepare schedules for staff and guest arrivals and departures.
c) Safety and Compliance:
· Assist in ensuring adherence to health, safety, and legal standards.
· Assist to implement emergency procedures and conduct regular safety drills.
· Maintain accurate records and incident reports.
d) Communication:
· Serve as the primary point of contact for staff, guests and related vendors/contractors.
· Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, or external parties as needed.
· Provide regular updates and feedback to camp leadership.
e) Facility Oversight:
· Supervise and coordinate daily camp operations to ensure all functions run efficiently.
· Develop and enforce camp policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
· Monitor and maintain the camp’s facilities, equipment, and grounds.
· Ensure proper disposal of waste and recycling materials in compliance with environmental and health regulations.
· Address maintenance needs and ensure cleanliness standards are met.
· Assist the Facilities Coordinator and related persons with menu planning and coordination.
· Ensure food preparation and handling adhere to health and safety regulations and conduct regular inspections of kitchen facilities and equipment to meet sanitation standards.

l) Fluent in English (and local languages advantageous).
Qualifications and Experience: QUALIFICATIONS
a) High school diploma.
b) Further qualifications in related field preferred.
c) CPR and First Aid certification (advantageous).
d) Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or similar safety training (advantageous).

EXPERIENCE
a) At least 7 years of camp management and related experience required in Southern Africa.
b) Experience in managing teams in remote areas.
c) Familiarity with safety regulations and emergency procedures.
d) Knowledge of facility maintenance and operational systems.
