Position Title: Chef
Reports to: Head Chef – Kitchen
Supervises: None
Department: Kitchen

• Performs functions within the kitchen for cooking and serving
• Demonstrates hospitality principles to patients, staff and caregivers
• Maintains timely cooking and quick service to promote smooth operations of the hospital
• Assists as directed, with purchasing and maintaining food and other kitchen supplies
• Vests with the cleaning procedures in the kitchen
• Working on quality controls in the Kitchen- documentation of whatever is done in the Kitchen, temperature checks in the kitchen and regular inspection of raw materials.
• Accurately takes record of Beit-CURE Children’s Hospital (BCCH) stores requisition form
• Maintains a high level of personal hygiene (such as cleanliness of hands, finger nails, burns, cuts, etc.) in handling food and kitchen facilities
• Abides by the hospital hygiene regulations for the kitchen
• Assists as requested with teaching aspects of cooking and cleaning tasks to ensure quality service provision of the department
• Writes handover reports in the absence of a head chef for shift worked
• Adheres to BCCH infection control policies to prevent diseases and reduce infection in the hospital
• Reports immediately to the supervisor any malfunctioning of any equipment and  its accessories
• Accurately documents all inventory for supplies used in the department
• Assess condition of the food
• To be able to lift/unload/move food supplies; lift dishes to storage location
• Displays willingness to learn new skills, concepts, etc.
• Performs the duties of the head chef in their absence or as directed by the supervisor
• Embrace Safeguarding policy in all aspects of your job – children are our priority
• Attend devotion and Chapel
• Any other duties that may be assigned to you

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. 1-3 years of professional work experience as Chef
2. Grade 12 certificate
3. Diploma in food production
4. Knowledge of dietary and nutrition issues
5. Ability to establish priorities and proceed with objectives under minimum supervision.
6. Knowledge of basic First Aid and Fire Prevention Techniques
