We are seeking an ambitious and energetic Intern Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our team and gain hands-on experience in managing and growing a dynamic e-commerce business. This hybrid internship offers a unique opportunity to work directly with the CEO to shape the future of Zambia’s leading online marketplace. Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership
- Support daily operations to ensure seamless functionality across departments.
- Assist in implementing systems and processes to enhance scalability and operational performance.
- Contribute to vendor onboarding and engagement strategies to expand the marketplace ecosystem.
- Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with the CEO to develop and execute the company’s growth strategy.
- Identify market opportunities and assist in creating data-driven plans to enhance customer experience and vendor participation.
- Align efforts with the company’s short-term and long-term goals, including the transition from catalog mode to full e-commerce functionality.
- Team Management
- Assist in building and managing a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor team performance.
- Market and Compliance Expertise
- Research market trends, customer behaviours, and competitor strategies to ensure Opsando remains competitive.
- Learn and stay informed about Zambia’s tax laws, e-commerce regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Performance Optimisation
- Support initiatives to monitor and improve key metrics, including sales, vendor retention, and customer satisfaction.
- Assist in identifying operational bottlenecks and recommending solutions to drive efficiency.
- Customer-Centric Innovation
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing the user experience for both vendors and customers.
- Explore and recommend technology-driven solutions to address real-world challenges in the Zambian market.
Requirements
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Economics, or related studies (fresh university graduates are encouraged to apply ).
- Familiarity with computers and productivity tools, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Teams , and other relevant applications.
- Reliable and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ambitious, energetic, and positive minded, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with a proactive mindset to tackle challenges effectively.
