Job Description
Our Clinical Officers are entrusted with delivering high-quality medical care and upholding exemplary standards of patient service within the health facility. They rotate across various outpatient services and work in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the provision of comprehensive healthcare to patients and their families.
They execute their duties with professionalism and integrity, in strict adherence to international guidelines and evidence-based medical practices.
KEY DUTIES
Medical Services Delivery and Clinical Practice Responsibilities

Actively contributes to the effective delivery of medical services at the clinic, in line with international best practice standards.

Provides patient care in accordance with Standard Treatment Guidelines, including ZNF and WHO guidelines.

Utilizes ICD-10 coding for all patient consultations.
Patient Care and Case Management

Ensures consistent patient follow-up and orders necessary investigations.

Accurately documents patient history and physical examination findings.

Prescribes appropriate treatments and ensures compliance.

Refers patients as required and provides counseling to support treatment adherence.

Conducts health education sessions for clients.
Operational and Logistical Responsibilities

Coordinates timely and appropriate patient transport from Hawthorns Clinic to receiving facilities, ensuring smooth transitions.

Collaborates with fellow clinicians to provide comprehensive care.

Upholds patient rights and maintains professionalism in all interactions.

Resolves patient grievances constructively by involving the appropriate personnel.

Teamwork and Communication

Supports colleagues to enhance service delivery efficiency.

Adapts to changes in clinical practice and stays current with medical advancements.

Communicates effectively with internal stakeholders, including supervisors and paramedics.

Adheres to Hawthorns Healthcare communication protocols across departments.
Facility and Resource Management

Conducts regular equipment and inventory checks, reporting faults or shortages per policy.

Manages medications and consumables in line with established tracking and ordering procedures.

Maintains a clean and compliant environment according to Hawthorns standards.

Demonstrates computer proficiency, including the use of spreadsheets and departmental software.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Diploma in Clinical General Sciences
Must be a registered and licensed practitioner with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
Experience in emergency medicine is an advantage.
Must have a minimum of 1 year experience
