Position Overview: Environment Africa is seeking a passionate and dynamic Communications and Advocacy Officer to be seconded to the Alliance for a Lead Free Kabwe in June 2024 on a one year contract. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in advancing the work of the Alliance for a Lead Free Kabwe by developing and implementing effective communication media and advocacy strategies
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans
Create compelling content for various platforms including website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and reports.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, influencers, and key stakeholders.
Lead the Alliance advocacy efforts to influence policy change at local, national, and international levels.
Monitor and analyze media coverage and public opinion to inform strategic decision-making.
Collaborate closely with other networks working on reducing exposure to lead in Kabwe
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, environmental studies, or related field (Master’s degree will be an added advantage).
Proven experience in communications, public relations, or advocacy, preferably within the environmental sector or working with a network.
Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
Strong understanding of digital marketing and social media platforms.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
Experience in graphic design, photography, or video production will be an added advantage.
Coordination of meetings and some admin work for the Alliance
