Duties

The Computer Management Assistant (CMA) shares responsibility for the management, administration, operation, and maintenance of post’s Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU) Local Area Network (LAN), Dedicated Internet Network (DIN), fiber optic tail circuits, telephone systems, mobile communication devices, portable communications devices, Audio Visual (AV) systems, radio systems, all other Automated Digital Processing (ADP) input/output devices, and all systems’ associated hardware and software.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:  Three years of progressively responsible network administration experience in a Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003, or 2008 Server environment is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must have detailed knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) architecture, Internet Protocol (IP) routing strategies, electronics theory, and computer processing theory. Must be cognizant of mission objectives, inter-office relationships and management practices, must have indepth knowledge of the computer standards of the Department of State regarding security and permissible software and hardware allowed on the network.

Education Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Information Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:  Fluent Reading/Writing/Speaking English

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to independently, systematically, and swiftly troubleshoot complex technical problems in a high-stress environment. Must possess exceptional customer service skills. Must be able to succinctly describe and explain complex technical issues to both lay and technical audiences. A valid class B driver’s license is required.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Lusaka, Zambia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
