1. Background
Alliance for Children Everywhere Zambia (ACE Zambia) is a child-focused organization committed to building family-based solutions for vulnerable children. As part of its commitment to gender equality and child sensitivity, ACE Zambia seeks to strengthen staff capacity to understand and address gender and power relations in both the workplace and the communities we serve.
This one-day training aims to build staff competence in integrating gender-responsive approaches in programming and fostering inclusive and respectful organizational practices. It also aims to deepen understanding of how caregiving roles, case management, and decision-making within families are influenced by gender dynamics.
2. Purpose of the Training
– To enhance staff understanding of gender concepts and their relevance in organizational decision-making, programming, and operations.
– To promote a gender-responsive and child-sensitive working environment.
– To build capacity in identifying and addressing gender-based inequalities in caregiving, case management, and community engagement.
3. Training Objectives
– Define gender, gender roles, gender identity, and related concepts.
– Understand how gender dynamics influence organizations, planning, and implementation.
– Recognize and challenge gender biases and stereotypes that affect workplace and field-level interactions.
– Use practical tools to mainstream gender into program design, implementation, and evaluation.
– Recognize how caregiving roles and decision-making within families—especially in ACE Zambia programming—can be affected by gender dynamics.
– Strengthen their ability to identify and respond to gender-based violence (GBV), particularly in family settings.
4. Target Audience
All ACE Zambia staff, with emphasis on:
– Social Workers
– Case Managers
– Program Officers
– Teaching Staff
– Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Staff
– Senior Management (to ensure strategic and policy-level commitment to gender responsiveness)
5. Scope of Work for the Consultant
– Design a one-day training module tailored to ACE Zambia’s work, including content on:
– Gender and power in organizational and community settings
– Gender-responsive caregiving and case management
– Gender-based violence and safeguarding
– Tools for mainstreaming gender in programming
– Develop pre- and post-training assessment tools to measure shifts in staff understanding and attitudes.
– Deliver a participatory and engaging one-day training session using adult learning techniques (e.g., group exercises, role plays, real-life case examples, multimedia).
– Facilitate action planning on how learning will be applied in staff roles and team structures.
– Compile and submit a comprehensive training report.

7. Consultant Qualifications
– Minimum of a Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Development Studies, or a related discipline.
– At least 5 years of experience in conducting gender trainings, with demonstrable knowledge of child-sensitive and community-centered programming.
– Understanding of Zambian cultural and social contexts related to gender and family dynamics.
– Experience with pre/post assessment design and training impact analysis.
– Excellent facilitation, communication, and report writing skills.
8. Timeframe and Level of Effort
The assignment is expected to take 3 working days, broken down as follows:
– 1 day – Preparation, material development, and assessment design
– 1 day – Training delivery
– 1 day – Report writing and submission
9. Reporting and Supervision
The Consultant will report to the Program Officer Family Preservation and work closely with the Human Resources and Program Departments. ACE Zambia will provide the training venue, participant coordination, and any required logistics.
10. Submission Requirements
Interested consultants should submit the following:
– Technical proposal (max 3 pages) outlining understanding of assignment, methodology, and proposed agenda
– Financial proposal (daily rate and total cost, inclusive of taxes)
– Curriculum Vitae (CV) with relevant references
– One example of a similar training report or toolkit previously developed
