The Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation PLC (ZAFFICO) is a listed and publicly traded company whose mission is to establish and manage industrial exotic forest plantations and agroforestry products to meet demand and maximize return on investment. In pursuance of its mission and strategic goals, the Corporation is now inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the under-listed position:
1.0 CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT AND STRATEGIC INVESTMENT MANAGER
Reporting To: Director – Strategy & Business Development
1.1 JOB PURPOSE
The Corporate Development and Strategic Investment Manager will
play a critical role in driving ZAFFICO’s growth agenda through the
identification of growth opportunities, development of new revenue
streams, investment appraisal, investor engagement, project
management, strategic analysis, build financial and price models,
support the creation of Strategic Business Units and commercial insights.
This position will support evidence-based decision-making through indepth financial and operational analysis, with a strong focus on value
creation across the forestry, processing, and value addition chain.
1.2 MAIN DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB HOLDER
1.2.1 Business Development & Revenue Diversification:

Identify, evaluate, and develop new revenue-generating opportunities aligned with ZAFFICO’s strategic objectives (e.g. industrial value addition, exports, by-product utilization, renewable energy).

Lead feasibility studies, business case development, and market scoping exercises.

Undertake appraisal of investment

Engage and build partnerships with commercial off-takers, financiers,
and technical collaborators to bring new ventures to market.

Assist with the preparation of investment memoranda and Board-level
submissions.
1.2.2 Data Analytics and Commercial Intelligence:

Conduct regular analysis of pricing trends, input costs, and supply chain dynamics to inform business development and operational decisions.

Track and model capital allocation efficiency across projects and operational segments.

Develop dashboards and reporting tools to support proactive performance management.
1.2.3 Financial Modelling and Analysis:

Build financial models for proposed projects, including IRR, NPV, payback analysis, and scenario testing.

Build pricing models for existing and proposed projects.

Provide valuation support for commercial transactions and capital raising efforts.
1.2.4 Capital Markets and Investor Engagement:

Engage proactively with capital markets participants, development finance institutions (DFIs), and strategic investors to support funding of growth initiatives.

Coordinate data rooms, due diligence responses, and project pipeline visibility to external stakeholders.

Support communication of ZAFFICO’s investment case through investor briefings, pitch decks, and financial disclosures.
1.2.5 Project Management:

Oversee and coordinate cross-functional project teams to ensure timely
and effective delivery of business development initiatives.

Track milestones, budgets, and risk registers to ensure project execution
aligns with corporate strategy.

Report progress and escalate constraints where necessary to senior
leadership.
1.3 KEY DELIVERABLES:

Pipeline of commercially viable initiatives with quantified revenue potential.

Monthly analytics reports on business units and markets.

Investor-grade financial models and pitch materials.

Project progress dashboards and investment committee documentation.

External investor engagement updates and stakeholder feedback summarie
2.0 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
a) Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree or MBA is an added advantage.
b) Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, corporate finance, or strategy, preferably in agro-industrial, forestry, or manufacturing sectors.
c) Strong financial modelling and data analytics capability (Excel, Power BI, or similar).
d) Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation to executive audiences.
