Description

JOB PURPOSE

Effective management of the bank’s Credit portfolio through robust monitoring and control mechanisms and maintenance of the documentation associated with all credit applications and security.

To ensure that the bank’s risks are minimized by facilitating adequate and consistent insurance for all the bank’s assets.

To ensure that the governance, risk and control frameworks of the bank are updated and operating effectively.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Quarterly review of the corporate portfolio to ensure that correct interest rates applied in the core banking system align with the credit approval and offer letter
  • Responsible for updating and amending collateral held on the corporate and retail portfolio on the Collateral Module in LMS and conducting monthly reconciliations with the Model outputs as provided by the Head of MIS in Credit
  • Responsible for the preparation of all offer letters and Post Sanction Aide Memoires for the Corporate portfolio in line with the set SLA timelines
  • Tracking and logging preparation and completion of all offer letters assigned and ensuring timely execution with trends shared weekly
  • Responsible for the preparation of instructions to legal for the creation and perfection of security
  • Critically examining all security documentation on the corporate portfolio for completeness and highlighting and tracking any discrepancies
  • Ensuring that approval from relevant authorities is held for deferral / waiver of incomplete documentation
  • Ensuring post disbursement compliance with approved terms and conditions
  • Effective monitoring of the defined portfolio to ensure that all facilities operate within the Single Obligor Limit (SOL) and regulatory capital
  • Compiling all necessary documentation as required by insurance companies, loss adjustors, risk surveyors, assessors or brokers
  • Ensuring all the relevant insurance contracts for the various insurance policies are in place, approved by legal and up to date
  • Working with Business Units and other experts within and outside the bank to ensure that all the Bank’s assets and other business interests are adequately insured.
  • Ensuring all customer assets (provided as security for the bank) are insured.
  • Monitoring the performance of insurance partners within SLAs, legal provisions and industry practice
  • Conducting periodic market intelligence and providing insights on key industry developments and best practice to both staff and management
  • Managing claims across the bank’s insurance interests and ensuring that they are processed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Correct computation and preparation of Insurance refunds and timely dissemination of information to clients due for insurance refunds.
  • Ensuring all fraud related insurance claims are followed up and processed timely.
  • Tracking insurance expiry dates and ensuring renewal before expiry dates.
  • Receive staff pension claim documentation and facilitate processing with Pension Fund Manager.
  • Facilitate staff pension pay-outs for ex staff by liaising with the Pension Fund Administrators
  • Proper maintenance and record keeping of all relevant documentation
  • Monthly reconciliation of premium payments with the broker and highlighting any anomalies/discrepancies
  • Monthly/Quarterly meetings with the insurance broker to review progress and address any areas of concern / improvement.
  • Quarterly, semi-annual and annual insurance portfolio performance analysis and reporting to Management
  • Reviewing internal policies and procedures with other stakeholdersHandling of Branch and other unit/departments insurance queries including timely escalation, follow up and resolution of issues.
  • Attending to audit queries and concerns
  • Support the periodic review of Credit Administration, Documentation, Monitoring & Insurance processes and procedures in order to improve productivity and bring in efficiencies
  • Ensure adherence and compliance with all regulatory and internal policies.
  • Timely preparation and completion of monthly returns and reports
  • Perform other work as assigned by management.
Requirements

DESIRED ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies, Economics, Risk Management, Actuarial Science or professional qualifications such as FCII/ACII highly desired
  • Professional Membership: Chartered Institute of Insurance (UK) and/or Insurance Institute of Zambia
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years’ experience, preferably in a financial institution, insurance broking firm or other highly demanding work environments.
  • Exposure to both general and life insurance is an added advantage.
  • Exposure to pensions management is also an added advantage
