We are currently seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Credit Analyst to join our dynamic team and play a crucial role in managing our credit risk.

Position Summary

The Credit Analyst is responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of potential and existing customers, including individuals and businesses. This role involves analyzing financial statements, credit data, and other relevant information to assess the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. The ideal candidate will provide insightful recommendations to support informed decision-making, helping to minimize bad debt losses and maximize profitability while maintaining strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Analysis:

1.Analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to assess the financial health of Malinzi Credit Ltd.
2.Calculate and interpret key financial ratios (e.g., liquidity, leverage, profitability ratios like D/E or ROA).
3.Conduct thorough due diligence on new credit applications.

Risk Assessment & Reporting:

1.Prepare comprehensive credit reports and summaries that detail findings, identify risks, and provide clear recommendations for credit limits and terms.
2.Develop and utilize financial models to project future performance and analyze potential risk scenarios.

Portfolio Management:
1.Monitor the existing credit portfolio for signs of financial distress or changes in risk profile.
2.Conduct periodic reviews of customer accounts to ensure ongoing creditworthiness and adjust credit lines as necessary.
3.Assist in managing delinquent accounts and support collections efforts by providing financial insights.

Policy & Compliance:
1.Stay informed about industry trends, economic conditions, and relevant regulations that may impact credit risk.

Collaboration:
1.Collaborate with the sales, account management, and finance teams to structure credit terms that are both competitive and prudent.
2.Communicate directly with clients to request financial information and clarify details as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

1.Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
2.2-4 years of proven experience in credit analysis, underwriting, or a similar financial role.
3.Strong proficiency in financial statement analysis and interpretation.
4.Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
5.Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
6.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
7.Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
8.Solid understanding of lending principles and credit risk management practices.

Preferred Experience

1.Experience in the Financial Services sector, e.g., Commercial banking and Private Credit.
2.Familiarity with financial software systems.
3.Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements in Zambia.
