Job Description

NICO Insurance Zambia Limited, a general insurance company, has been operating in Zambia since 1st October 1997, and has branches in Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola, Livingstone and Chipata. NICO Insurance Zambia Limited is a member of NICO Group of Companies operating in Malawi, and Sanlam through Sanlam Allianz. The Company is now seeking to identify a suitably experienced and qualified individual to be engaged as Credit Control Officer.

The Credit Control Officer shall be responsible for collecting premiums from outstanding customers/brokers, preparing receivable statements and reconciliations, as well as computing commissions payments in line with credit control guidelines and policy.

Main duties will include the following:

Timely follow ups and collection of outstanding receivables by engaging customers and brokers.
Preparation of detailed monthly receivable statement reconciliations for customers, brokers, and agents.
Matching of receipts to their respective policies.
Makes timely recommendation of cancellation of policies nearing or in default of agreed terms to the Credit Control Manager and the Underwriting Units affected.
Compiles daily and weekly activity and collection reports against set targets and submits the same to the Credit Control Manager.
Prepares monthly detailed payment plan status reports for assigned brokers and clients and submits to Credit Control Manager for consolidation.
Liaising with underwriters on commission rates before paying Brokers and Agents.
Working hand in hand with Underwriters and Brokers on queried policies.
Providing accurate and complete audit information and schedules on time.

Requirements:

Have a first degree in accounting or related field.
Have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience, preferably in the general insurance industry.
Working knowledge of accounting standards and procedures.
High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
Sound independent judgement and high integrity.
Paid-up member of ZICA.
