About Musekese Conservation
Musekese Conservation is an NGO working to protect Zambia’s Greater Kafue Ecosystem through intensive research and monitoring of large carnivores and their prey, resource protection, and community engagement. We work in close partnership with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Greater Kafue Landscape Ltd. (GKLL), and several research institutions including Panthera and the Zambian Carnivore Programme.
Job Details
Musekese Conservation is looking for a passionate, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Data Manager to join our dedicated team working in the Greater Kafue Ecosystem. This role is central to our conservation impact, supporting wildlife monitoring, patrol data management, and informed decision-making across our operations.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and analyze ecological and patrol data using SMART and GIS tools

Providing training to law enforcement officers in data collection using SMART mobile and EarthRanger mobile apps

Maintain data accuracy, integrity, and security in our central systems

Gathering data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and external APIs

Creating visualizations, dashboards, and reports to present data insights in a clear and compelling manner

Interpreting data findings and communicating insights to stakeholders in non-technical terms

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data insights into actionable recommendations

Providing analytical support to inform business decisions and strategies
Required Qualifications

BSc or higher in Ecology, Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, or related field

Minimum 2-3 years working in a similar capacity

Strong skills in data organisation and management (Excel, SharePoint, file structuring)

Proven experience with SMART, EarthRanger GIS (ArcGIS pro/QGIS), Garmin or similar conservation tech tools

Basic knowledge of data management protocols, databases, and cloud storage tools

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a field-based environment

Ability to lead and coordinate a small team remotely
Preferred Skills

Experience with remote sensing tools and satellite imagery analysis

Understanding of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) frameworks, especially for conservation and field-based programs

Ability to visualize data effectively using dashboards or story maps

Strong report-writing skills and experience producing donor or technical reports
