Development Worker as Advisor (m/f/d) – Landscape Protection in Zambia
Assignment period:12/01/2024 – 10/31/2027 / full-time
Field of activity
Zambia faces increased climatic challenges, with strong effects in the rainfall patterns (both droughts and floods). The Integrated Water Catchment Management and Landscape Protection in Zambia (AWARE 2.0) Programme advises the Zambian government in improving inter-sectoral cooperation on all levels, as well as pilots measures to improve water resources management on the ground. Through the application of the landscape approach, scaling effects of best practices should be achieved to reach a large group of beneficiaries.
Your tasks

Advisory services and mainstreaming landscape planning and protection in the integrated development planning of the decentralised governmental structures (district and provincial)
-
Strengthen and support the decentralised planning and implementation of measures for integrated water resource management and landscape protection
-
Mainstream climate change adaptation and gender responsive approaches in the integrated decentralised planning
-
Facilitate capacity development for stakeholders to enhance the integrated decentralised plans and the respective planning procedures
-
Facilitate cooperation between different sectorial stakeholders across the entire selected landscape
-
Support the partnership approach for sustainable resource mobilization
-
Support provincial planning department in day to day works

Contribute proactively to information exchange, reporting, strategy development and networking within the team and with the stakeholders of the project

Frequent visits of partners in the landscape (self drive)
Your profile
-
University degree in Landscape Planning, Regional Planning or related fields
-
Proven work experience in natural resource management, especially water management, forestry and biodiversity, as well as climate change adaptation
-
Proven work experience with Geographic Information System (GIS), remote sensing and the development of maps
-
First experiences in multisectoral and multicultural teams and contexts, as well as the ability to adapt to a diverse work environment
-
Knowledge on gender sensitive approaches is an asset
-
Work Experience in Sub-Sahara Africa is an asset
-
Good networking and communication skills
-
Fluent in English and willingness to learn the basics of one of the local languages
