Job description:

Overall Job Purpose

• To carry out day-to-day Shift operation while upholding high standards of safety in accordance with company policies and production of quality product.

Specific Job Responsibility

The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;

• Reporting for work fit and well rested.
• Ensuring that the Operating Permit is valid.
• Ensuring a thorough pre-start Inspection is done and the pre-start check-list is completed and submitted.
• Ensuring good house-keeping.
• Following operating manuals and general signage.
• Following lawful instructions from the respective supervisor.
• Complying to all laid down procedure and regulations provided by the company.
• Reporting any A class hazards and all defects on a machine.
• Reporting any unsafe acts or conditions.
• Protecting the tyres by not reversing up the muck pile and not driving over spillage.
• Being on time to avoid standing time.
• Ensuring daily KPI’s are achieved.
• Performing other related duties that may be required.

Job Specific Competencies

• Must possess knowledge on how to do the pre- start checks on the machine.
• Must be able to identify defects.
• Must be conversant with controls/parts and their functions on a machine.
• Must possess knowledge about machine shut down and emergency procedures.
• Must be able to operate a two-way radio and be able to use of modular system.

Experience required to perform in this job

• A minimum of 2 years driving experience on the same or similar machine
• Experience in an open pit setup.

Qualifications

• Full Grade 12 Certificate
• Machine specific training and certification.
• Drivers Licence class C
