Mushingashi Conservancy is looking to employ an “Ecology Intern” to be stationed at the Conservancy. This person needs to have a passion for Zambia’s wildlife, conservation principles and the flora and fauna that make up the delicate and diverse Kafue Ecosystem.
Job Description
• Set up and maintain camera traps.
• Assist with the processing and analysis of camera trap data.
• Create monthly distribution maps for collared animals using QGIS/ArcGIS.
• Assist with the annual burning programme, including burn planning and fire mapping.
• Assist with vegetation surveys and various other field ecology tasks.
• Assist field teams with their wildlife monitoring duties.
Qualifications/Requirements
• At least a BSc in Terrestrial Ecology, or similar.
• Zambian citizen or resident with a right to work.
• Good working proficiency in QGIS or ArcGIS, with the ability to produce maps with little to no
supervision.
• Contactable references.

• Basic understanding of the local fauna, flora, and associated habitat.

• The ability to produce and present high-quality reports.

• Experience with camera traps is advantageous.
