Our client, VVOB, an international NGO, is looking to hire an Education Advisor to join their team in Lusaka, Zambia. VVOB is dedicated to strengthening education systems in developing nations, ensuring access, equity, and excellence in learning for all. As a key player in this mission, the Education Advisor will support the VVOB Zambia Catch Up program
Key Responsibilities
As an Education Advisor, your primary role will be to support the VVOB Zambia Catch Up.

Strengthening Program Fidelity: You’ll support the Ministry of Education (MoE) at national, provincial, and district levels to ensure the Catch-Up project is implemented effectively, with a focus on lesson delivery rates and quality.

Improving Literacy: A key part of the role is to improve the effectiveness of the literacy component of the program and ensure it leads to significant learning gains for students.

Capacity Building: You’ll work with MoE staff, VVOB Education Advisors, and the Project Coordinator to build the capacity and confidence of teachers and education officials.

Learning and Innovation: You will contribute to and oversee the quality of innovation hub activities and Learning Labs, including the development, implementation, review, and documentation of new approaches. This includes helping to develop new innovation proposals.

Sustainability: Your work will have a strong focus on making the Catch Up program sustainable and enabling MoE staff to lead activities independently. This involves engaging key stakeholders at all levels of the MoE and aligning sustainability efforts with their needs.
Qualifications and Experience:

A bachelor’s degree in education or a similar field, with at least five years of relevant work experience. A Master’s degree is a plus.

At least five years of experience in the international development sector.

Proven expertise in Catch Up and/or Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN).

Experience with Innovation Hubs or Learning Labs is an asset.

Experience with ASER and EGRA assessments is also an asset.

Excellent knowledge of the Zambian education system.

Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

The ability and willingness to travel for short periods, approximately one week per month.
