Job Description

ZSIC General Insurance exists to optimise the provision of customer oriented insurance services guided by good corporate governance principles and best practice. An equal opportunity employer seeks applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill up the following position:

Electrician: (contractual)

Reporting to Facilities Officer.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out condition monitoring and preventive maintenance of all electrical equipment through regular repairs and replacements;
Ensures that all security lights around Premium House are functional
Performs routine weekly maintenance on electrical equipment;
Ensures that all tools and equipment are available and kept in serviceable condition;
Performs routine dally checkups of oil, water and fuel levels in the Genset
Ensures that daily readings of fuel levels in the Genset set are recorded in the Ledger,
Performs regular updates of the Fuel Genset Ledger Book;
Ensures that the Genset is clean at all times by making sure that there are no oil spillages on the floor
Ensures that all loose hanging electrical wiring cables around Premium House are well secured;
Collaborates with meter readers from ZESCO in recording of meter readings from the main meter in the meter book; Promptly attend to electrical emergencies;
Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent Minimum Advanced Certificate in Electrical Engineering
Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)

KNOWLEDGE

Able to read any kind of schematic electric drawing
Fire Building Safety Regulations

KEY COMPETENCIES

Good/excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Fluent in English
Ability to establish work priorities
Ability to use initiative and good judgement in accomplishing tasks
Time management
