Job Description

Qualifications

The Engineering Planner must meet the following qualifications and have relevant work experience:

  • Qualifications :
  • A degree in Engineering.
  • Active membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Work Experience :
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in engineering maintenance planning, scheduling, and asset tracking.
  • Proven experience in the maintenance and repair of engineering equipment.
  • Previous experience in the FMCG industry will be an added advantage.
Job role

Management of Designated Maintenance Management System

  • Oversees the company’s designated maintenance management system, ensuring that all maintenance data is consistently and accurately recorded.
  • Assesses maintenance data to optimize and refine maintenance practices, covering farm assets, preventive maintenance schedules, work order requests, and spares inventory.
  • Develops detailed work plans for repairs, including equipment downtime, required man-hours, and real-time updates to the asset register and inventory records.

Preventative Maintenance Planning and Scheduling

  • Creates and manages comprehensive maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and reliability of equipment.
  • Receives and process work orders, ensuring proper scheduling.
  • Creates detailed job plans, outlining all work sequences, required equipment downtime, and man-hours needed.
  • Compiles a comprehensive parts list with reference numbers and precise locations for each work order.
  • Confirms that all necessary parts are in stock prior to scheduling jobs.
  • Estimates the costs of parts and supplies for each work order.
  • Ensures effective management of project scope changes and deliverables.
  • Establishes housekeeping procedures and standards to be followed during maintenance and repair work.
  • Monitors and tracks the progress of tasks assigned to the department to ensure timely completion

Operational and Inventory Support

  • Contributes to the development of operational plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment and systems.
  • Raises requisitions for non-stock spare parts and materials, ensuring timely processing and installation through internal systems.
  • Oversees the tracking of orders and parts to maintain inventory accuracy and availability.
  • Provides technical advice and specifications to support the procurement process effectively.
  • Focuses on cost control and reduction initiatives to optimize departmental budgets and resources.
