EAL Teacher Vacancy

Role Description

The International School of Lusaka is seeking a full-time English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher to work on-site in Lusaka. As an EAL teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons to non-English speakers and assessing and evaluating student reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities. You will work with other teachers to ensure students are supported in all academic areas and provide regular progress reports to parents.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education,

Professional qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), or equivalent experience

Valid teaching certification or licence.

Proven experience teaching English as an Additional Language, preferably in a diverse and international educational setting.

Knowledge, understanding and experience of curriculum design, assessment and pedagogy

Excellent communication skills to work effectively with colleagues, parents, and students, with extra care to make everyone feel included and valuable

Patient and empathetic teaching style, with a willingness to develop and maintain positive relationships with students and their families

A growth mindset and the ability to reflect on and improve their practice
