Job Description

A private school in Lusaka seeks the services of a Teacher of English Language and Physical Education /Sports. We are a co-educational, multicultural International School with children from Nursery School through to grade twelve, with both day and boarding students.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Preferred candidates must be reflective, passionate and highly creative with experience of successful teaching at Secondary school level and a wider understanding of current educational issues.

Full Grade 12 Certificate
Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in English Language, and Physical Education / Sports Science, or related field)
Minimum of two years’ Experience in teaching both English Language and Physical Education
TCZ Practicing License
Two traceable and reliable referees
Conversant with ISAZ Sports programs
Strong command of English Language and Physical Education teaching methodologies

JOB SPECIFICATION DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, AMONG OTHERS:

Teaching English Language and Physical Education to school learners
To plan schemes of work in advance for both subject areas
Organizing co-curricular activities related to both English Language and Sports
Conduct continuous assessment for learners in both subjects
Develop reading and writing skills in learners
Organize literary activities, debates, and language competitions

JOB PURPOSE

To plan, develop and deliver high quality English Language and P.E. lessons using a variety of approaches, to continually enhance teaching and learning.
Demonstrate proficiency in English Language instruction including grammar, composition, literature, and oral communication skills.
Demonstrate a proficiency in coaching targeted sports in the ECZ Secondary School curriculum and ISAZ sports.
Innovative and proactive in initiating inter-house competitions, interactive sports, literary events, and whole school sports programmes.
Implement new initiatives, Academy, local or national, by adapting classroom procedures accordingly, monitoring progress and reflecting on pedagogical outcomes in both subject areas.
To co-coordinate with the School Sports Coordinator for out of school clubs, activities and teams in the Secondary phase.
Knowledge and experience in handling ISAZ sports programmes and English Language curriculum requirements.
Keep up-to-date with research and developments in pedagogy in both subject areas.
Certified to coach a variety of minor and popular sports and qualified to teach English Language at primary level.
Keep up-to-date with technological change and the use of technology to enhance delivery, and student access, to both subjects.
Foster a love for reading, writing, and physical fitness among learners.
