What this position is about:

Based in Chipata, this position exists to provide support to the EHS Manager in the implementation of EHS, fleet and security programs for a safe, healthy and environmentally sustainable workplace and ensure smooth running of fleet management and security procedures.

What you will be doing:

Risk Assessments and Internal audits

  • Conduct regular EHS risk assessments on site to identify hazards and ensure compliance to EHS Standards
  • Ensure that all incidents/accidents and non- conformances are reported and investigated according to internal procedure including implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and internal audits to ensure compliance to EHS Programs and safe work operating procedures and makes recommendations to improve EHS compliance.
  • Submit records of inspections findings and compile statistical information of performance of EHS activities, programs and campaigns on a weekly and monthly basis in order to facilitate completion of HQ reports.

Inductions and awareness

  • Coordinate EHS Inductions for seasonal employees/ visitors and work closely with the Site Managers/ other departmental co-workers to ensure permanent and temporal contractors undertake their work in accordance with JTI EHS Standards
  • Ensures that toolbox and other group safety meetings are held on each site. Also supports the Site management with preparation of material/information for the EHS meetings.

Security Management

  • Supervise the security guard force on site and ensure that they execute their duties professionally in accordance with agreed procedures and report any non-compliance to management in order to make follow up actions. Play key role in investigations of all security breaches for the site office.

Your Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • 2 years’ experience in similar position.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-disciplined, organized, and structured multi-tasker with efficient project and management skills.
