Job Description

1.      Background

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is an international non-governmental organization dedicated to conserving threatened wildlife and their habitats worldwide. Our mission is to halt the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to foster a future in which humans coexist harmoniously with nature. In August 2023, WWF Zambia, in collaboration with People in Need (PIN), secured funding from the Jersey Overseas Aid (JOA) and the Czech Development Agency (CZDA) to implement a project aimed at contributing to the conservation of the local ecosystem, restoring biodiversity, and alleviating poverty in the Barotse Floodplain of Western Zambia.  WWF Zambia, through this project, seeks to engage qualified local contractors for labor-only services to install four Level One Livestock Service Centers in the Sefule and Lukulo areas of Mongu, as well as in the Ushaa and Sima areas of Limulunga. The work will include the installation of a spray race, neck clamp (Brahman), cattle crush, cattle kraal sides, sliding cattle gates, a water pump, construction of basic farmer shelters and essential sanitation facilities.

2.      Scope of Works:

The contractor shall undertake the following tasks:

A.     Please provide cost estimates for the installation and assembly, assuming that all equipment is procured and delivered to each site.

B.     Provide construction project management, labor services, and procure and supply all installation materials in accordance with the provided estimates. Additionally, the quality of materials will be agreed upon prior to purchase. Specifically, the contractor will

  1. Oversee site preparation and all installation activities, reporting to the WWF Zambia Mongu Field Office.
  2. Advise WWF Zambia and the Mongu field office on best practices for the installation of Level One Livestock Service Centers.
  3. Providing equipment and tools as reasonably required.
  4. Provide work materials as reasonably required and within the project’s budget in a timely manner to ensure that work proceeds according to schedule.
  5. Provide guidance for situations in which designs do not clearly specify the applicable standards or specifications.
  6. Please provide any additional services, such as transporting materials from the source to the site.
  7. Employ and supervise on-site workers.

C.     Execute installation work in a proper and skillful manner, adhering to the agreed-upon payment schedule.

D.     Install four Level One Livestock Service Centers in accordance with the site plan and technical specifications.

E.     Please clean the site before handing it over to WWF Zambia and the community.

3.      Specific Deliverable:

The vendor will deliver the following items as specified. Installed and assembled four Level One Livestock Service Centers in the Sefule and Lukulo areas of Mongu, as well as in the Ushaa and Sima areas of Limulunga. Each site includes a neck clamp, a 10m by 6m metallic holding pen, a spray race, a deep pit, a 12m by 9m metallic crush pen, three metallic cattle crushes, a simple farmers’ shelter, and essential sanitation facilities.

4.      Duration:

The consultancy is expected to last for 4 months from the period of contracting.

5.      Supervision and Reporting:

The selected vendor will report to the Project Coordinator at the WWF Mongu Office, with scheduled reports to Mongu and Limulunga District Livestock Officers.

6.      Instructions to Interested Labor Contractors:

Provide the following

  1. PACRA Certificate of Registration
  2. Valid ZRA Tax Clearance
  3. Company Profile or CVs of skilled artisans
  4. Proof of similar work done (attach 2 references)
  5. Detailed work plan and labor deployment schedule
  6. Bank Details

7.      Application Submission Process:
