Role Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Finance Africa Crop Science, this role is responsible for steering the financial performance of the Division’s commercial operations in Southern African Countries cluster, including planning, forecasting, and commercial strategies.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

// Deliver financial targets by ensuring reliable financial steering and management (operational/financial planning, target setting, resource allocation, deviation analysis, mitigation plans).

// Drive financial planning, forecasting, and reporting for the division, including on aspects such as cashflow, tax, transfer pricing, and financial reports.

// Partner with Commercial Leads and teams to ensure delivery of strategic and operational financial performance targets.

// Translate business strategy into operational plans and ensure adherence to HQ standards and guidelines

// Conduct internal business analysis, external benchmarking and trend analysis, and provide insights to the business for decision making.

// Drive business risk management initiatives.

// Drive budgeting, cost monitoring, control, optimization, and reporting, including marketing and channel related costs, and performance incentives.

// Prepare regular financial and business performance reports including gross to net sales, marginal income analysis, and deviation analysis.

// Develop and implement state of the art controlling concepts and strategies.

// Drive and support continuous improvement and efficiency.

// Liaise with Corporate functions to ensure that financial transactions are correctly accounted for and aligned on a monthly basis.

// Ensure implementation and effective use of digital tools for busines planning, monitoring, reporting, and decision making.

// Partner with key stakeholders to develop governance structures to enable compliance with Bayer’s standards and processes, and local compliance requirements.

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

// Master’s degree in business or economics.

// Professional qualifications in Finance, Treasury, or Risk Management (CFA, CIMA).

// A minimum of 7 years’ experience in business finance.

// Strong business acumen, strategic mindset, and customer focus.

// Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to senior management stakeholders.

// Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

// Great judgement and decision-making skills.

// Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity.

// Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills.

// Fluent in English, other languages are a plus
