Access Bank Zambia is seeking to recruit a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and innovative person to fill the role of
Financial Accountant, Reporting Finance Unit
based at Head Office, Lusaka, Zambia.
Why the role exists
The Financial Accountant, Reporting will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the bank’s financial reporting processes. The position supports both internal and external reporting requirements, including regulatory filings, statutory financial statements, and management reporting. This role ensures compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g. local central bank regulations). The role reports to Manager Finance Regulatory and Tax.
What you will be responsible for
1.Financial reporting:

Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and local accounting standards.

Consolidate financial data across business units for group reporting.

Support the preparation of the annual financial statements and assist with the year-end audit process.
2.Regulatory reporting:

Ensure accurate and timely submission of regulatory reports to the central bank and other financial authorities.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing regulatory requirements.
3.Management reporting:

Provide management with timely and accurate financial information for decision-making purposes.

Support the budgeting and forecasting process through financial analysis and reporting.

Act as a key contact for internal and external auditors.

Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist in process improvements.
5.Systems and process improvements:

Leverage accounting systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or local banking ERP systems) to improve efficiency.

Identify opportunities to automate or streamline financial reporting processes.
Requirements (Qualification, skills and experience)

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA, or CIMA or CA Zambia) is strongly preferred.
Experience

3-5 years of experience in a financial accounting or reporting role, ideally within the banking or financial services sector.

Experience with IFRS and banking regulatory reporting is essential.

Successful candidate will be required to provide verified academic qualifications by the Zambia Qualifications authority (ZAQA)

Registered member with ZICA.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in financial systems.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
