Zambia Sugar Plc. is an ABF Group sugar company and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.
The company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following position in the Finance Department.
FINANCIAL ANALYST x 1 – FIXED TERM CONTRACT
FINANCE DEPARTMENT (NAKAMBALA)
This position reports to the Record to Report Manager.
Key Performance Areas
-
Responsible for the month-end General Ledger closure for Nakambala and Nanga.

To prepare (if applicable) and process journal entries for Nakambala and Nanga.

Responsible for intercompany process for Nakambala and Nanga.
-
Prepare relevant sub-ledger reconciliations for Nakambala and Nanga.
-
Consolidation of balance sheet reconciliations for Nakambala and Nanga.
-
Prepare and perform balance sheet variance analysis for month end actuals for Nakambala and Nanga.
-
Timeous and accurate response to all matters raised regarding General Ledger close for Nakambala and Nanga.
-
Generate the final trial balance for Nakambala and Nanga.
-
Upload the approved trial balance to Cognos for Nakambala and Nanga.
-
Prepare Nakambala COAP with balance sheet notes for Nakambala and Nanga.
-
Ensure full compliance with the Companies Act and relevant IFRS’s.
-
Manage the interim and final external audit at Nakambala and Nanga.
-
Prepare year end reporting pack for Nakambala and Nanga.
-
Prepare Nakambala and Nanga annual financial statement.
-
Prepare Nakambala and Nanga year-end tax pack.
-
Respond to Nakambala and Nanga audit inquiries timeously.
-
Attend and perform stock counts.
-
Attend and perform asset verification.
-
Responsible for capitalization (additions), disposal and depreciation of fixed assets (Nakambala and Nanga).

Management of financial systems (Cognos & SAP) for Nakambala and Nanga.
-
Perform integrity checks on the data.
-
Ensure that all system verification checks are completed in a timely manner.
-
Responsible for the review the intercompany reconciliations within the system.
-
Ensures that the database is current and accurately reflects the actual financial position of each entity on a monthly basis.

Manages the Cognos reporting process from the entities (ensure appropriate version controls checks are performed).
-
Review and verify statistics uploaded for each reporting period (actual) to relevant source data (production reports/crush plans).

Be responsible for the implementation of any upgrade in the Cognos or other head office management reporting system.

Improve system function and processes through continuous improvement.
-
Assists and manages with on-going system projects.
-
Complies report on post-dated journals for review by Record to Report Manager.
-
Ensures that the database is current and accurately reflects the actual financial position of each entity on a monthly basis.

Develops and maintains favorable stakeholder relationships, internally within business and externally with auditors.
-
Drive month end performance discussion meetings to identify opportunities for improvement and prevent reoccurrences of inefficient processes.

Drive internal control improvement within the operational site.
-
Ensuring that the talent management system is adhered to in terms of own performance contract and personal development plan as required.

Ensure self-development and growth by improving personal effectiveness through active transfer of learning.

Co-ordinate and prepare GHG reports.
-
Assist in the consolidation of all entity reporting and preparation of the head office reporting.

Assist in ensuring compliance with group requirements for all GHG recording.

Assist in managing any audit requirements of the finance protocol and procedure aspect of the GHG reporting process.

Prepare insurance renewal questionnaire.

Promote and uphold compliance all policies, including SHERQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) guidelines.
Minimum specifications / Requirements areas
-
Grade 12 Certificate.
-
Bachelor of Accountancy degree, CA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
-
2-3 years in a commercial and industrial environment. Experience in Consumer Products or FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) environment will be an added advantage.

Must be a member of ZICA.

Advanced proficiency and knowledge in IFRS standards.
