Job Purpose
The Garage Workshop Manager will manage and lead a team of mechanics and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective repair and maintenance operations. Oversee the scheduling of repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure that all work is completed within set timelines and manage interactions with Clients. Oversees the daily operations of the garage, ensuring efficient and profitable service. Take charge of maintaining customer service standards, procures auto spare parts, manages stock levels, and handles the other aspects of the garage.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and lead a team of mechanics, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.

Allocate tasks and responsibilities to mechanics based on their skill sets and workloads.

Monitor work progress, ensuring timely and quality completion of repair and maintenance tasks.

Coordination Repair and Maintenance works

Plan and prioritize repair and maintenance tasks for the workshop, including routine servicing, diagnostics, and complex

repairs.

Coordinate with mechanics to ensure the availability of required parts, tools, and equipment.

Monitor repair timelines to minimize vehicle downtime and ensure efficient fleet operation.

Plan and develop daily work schedules for subordinates

Devise procedures of works / checklists to prevent re-occurrence of complaints

Manage interactions with truck drivers bringing vehicles for repair, ensuring clear communication and efficient scheduling of repairs.

Address driver/clients inquiries, provide updates on repair progress, and maintain a professional and courteous approach.

Collaborate with drivers to understand issues and gather necessary information for effective repairs.

Inspect completed repairs to ensure they meet quality standards and safety regulations.

Maintain accurate records of all repairs, maintenance tasks, and parts inventory.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and provide training on safety protocols for all team members.

Manage relationships with external vendors and suppliers to ensure the availability of parts and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to team members for their professional growth.

Stay updated with the latest advancements and innovations in automotive repair and maintenance techniques.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
-
Diploma in Mechanics or Related Engineering or Mechanics Qualification
-
Degree in any of the above fields will be a plus

Minimum 5 years of experience in managing a
garage as Workshop Manager

Must have proven experience of supervising mechanics
-
Experienced in maintaining spare parts inventory, keeping service records, providing estimates to customers, and delivering excellent customer service
-
Experience in procurement and stock management is an asset
-
Working experience with a Tyre Fitting Company in the same capacity will be plus
-
Must have Proven technical and mechanical skills
-
Knowledge in auto electrical will be an added advantage
-
Should have knowledge on workshop process and practices
-
Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to automotive repair and maintenance.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if required.
