Job Opportunity: General Manager – Insurance

Location: Lusaka, Zambia Company: A New Insurance Provider

We are a new insurance company launching in Zambia and seek a founding General Manager to build and lead our operations from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to shape a company’s future, manage regulatory processes, and drive growth in the market.

Key Responsibilities:

● Develop and execute the company’s business strategy in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
● Lead all regulatory compliance efforts with the Pensions and Insurance Authority (PIA) to secure and maintain our operating license.
● Establish and manage all core operations, including underwriting, claims, sales, and customer service.
● Recruit and lead a high-performing management team.
● Oversee the company’s financial performance, budgeting, and risk management.

Requirements:

● 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
● Mandatory: Must be an active, paid-up member of the Insurance Institute of Zambia (IIZ).
● Deep understanding of Zambian insurance regulations and the PIA.
● Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Business, Finance, Insurance, etc.).
● Proven experience in successfully managing teams and business operations.
