Job Purpose:
The overall purpose of the Finance Intern role is to provide support to the department and ensure compliance to regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence (90%):

Assist with ZRA customs tax audit preparations by providing necessary documents, samples and reconciliations as requested by auditors.

Support in the reconciliation of the WH VAT audit and availing the documentation required for the refund approval.

Perform periodic supplier reconciliations.

Perform customer reconciliations.

Assist with General Ledger reconciliation (TB clean-up process).

Assist with the 2023 statutory audit preparations by retrieval of the necessary documents, samples and reconciliations as requested.

Prepare the payment vouchers and the requisite documentation for authorization and payments to suppliers.

Maintaining an effective filing system for petty cash vouchers, unpaid supplier invoices, payment vouchers as per the ISO Specifications as well as maintaining a register all the company assets.

Support in the fixed assets verification and tagging exercise.
Controls and Compliance (10%):

Ensure that all financial practices are in line with all statutory legislation and regulations.

Compliance with Group accounting policy to meet the stipulated statutory guidelines.

Compliance with Authority matrix to prevent the risk of Company incurring unnecessary losses.
Skills and Experience required for this role:

A self-motivated individual with a “can do attitude”

Ability to collate, interpret and provide financial data
-
Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, creditors and peers
-
Organized and able to work independently without supervision.

2 years’ experience and preferably having already performed in different jobs within the company’s finance department.

Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or business-Related field
-
CPA or ACCA qualifications
