Job Description
The Mulungushi Village Complex Limited (MVCL) is a Real Estate and Hospitality Company established by the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ). The MVCL was incorporated in 2006 as a Limited Liability Company under the companies Act, CAP 386 of the Laws of Zambia. 2MVCL is a subsidiary of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). In its pursuit to remain as a premier choice for long and short stay accommodation, conferences and banqueting services, the MVCL seeks to appoint dynamic, motivated and pro-active persons to fill the following vacant positions:-
1.0 JOB POSITION
1 x 1 Head-Accounting and Finance
The position reports to the Director-Finance and Corporate Services. The successful candidate will responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing the objectives and procedures of the general accounts and financial operations in order to provide accurate and up to date financial information to management.
2.0 Statement of Main Duties

Co-ordinates the preparation and consolidation of company budget.

Co-ordinates the annual audits and liaises with external auditors.

Liaison Officer between the Zambia Revenue Authority and MVCL.

Ensures preparation of company payroll and payment of correct salaries on due dates and that statutory (PAYE, NAPSA) and other deductions are effected.

Ensures that accounting data held in journals is verified before it is posted to the general ledger.

Verifies daily treasury report and daily banking’s, as well as bank reconciliations.
3.0 Specific duties
-
Preparation of audited financial annual accounts with all the necessary schedules in readiness for submission to external auditors, and liaises with external Auditors on the same.

Timely preparation of monthly and quarterly company financial statements for management decision making.

Ensure cut-off procedures are complied with.

Prepares detailed budget comparatives and communicates to users from time to time and designs budget formats for consolidation and circulation to all cost and profit centers.

Prepares detailed variance analysis reports and provides advice to Heads of Department to ensure effective budgetary control systems

Ensures timely preparation of all tax returns and their filing

Authorizes requests for payments and verifies and signs cheques as signatory

Ensures daily cash flow forecasts in order to identify sources and use of revenue.

Performs any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
4.0 Key Requirements Qualifications/Requirements areas

A degree in financial accounting.

Full ACCA, CIMA, ZICA or equivalent. Member of ZICA.

Full Grade 12 School Certificate.

A minimum of five years’ experience.

Ability to organize and present financial information according to generally accepted accounting principles.

Ability to plan and organize activities in the section to ensure timely provision of information.

Must be very numerate with an analytical mind and ability to work to detail.

Good working knowledge of computers, including Pastel system.

Good supervisory skills.
-
Good Planning skills.
-
Interpersonal and good communication skills.
